Several HMRC services will be unavailable from Friday 23 June to Monday 26 June 2023. This will affect some online services available to taxpayers and agents, as well as HMRC contact centre staff.

This coming weekend, HMRC is moving one of its largest systems, the national insurance and PAYE service (NPS), to a cloud platform. This means that all services that use NPS will be unavailable from 11:30 on Friday 23 June to 09:00 on Monday 26 June.

The Tax Faculty understands that the following personal tax account services will be unavailable during the closure:

  • Check your state pension
  • Child benefit
  • Claim a tax refund
  • Class 2 national insurance
  • Company car
  • Employee expenses
  • Help to save
  • Marriage allowance
  • Medical benefits
  • PAYE check your income tax service
  • Pensions lifetime allowance
  • Repayments
  • Tax calculation
  • Trusted helper.

HMRC helpline staff will also be unable to access these services during the closure.

The following (unconnected) services are also unavailable during this period:

  • Agent Services Account
  • Childcare service
  • Lifetime ISA
  • Look up residency status for relief at source
  • MTD for income tax self assessment
  • VAT registration
  • VAT submission
  • Payrolling benefits
  • Pension schemes.
